Line check
A quick check that every input is working, shorter than a full soundcheck.
A line check is a fast check that every input on the input list is live and routed correctly: each mic and DI is played or spoken into, one at a time, so the engineers can confirm signal. It's shorter than a full soundcheck and is what support acts and festival bands usually get.
Example
After a 20-minute changeover, the FOH engineer calls out channels: "Kick... snare... hats..." while the drummer plays each one, then moves to bass DI and vocals. It takes about five minutes.
Tips
Keep your input list in the same order every night so line check goes channel 1 to channel N without searching, and have someone ready on stage to play each instrument when called.
