Front of house (FOH)
The audience side of the venue, and the mixing position where the house sound is run.
Front of house (FOH) means the audience side of the venue. In practice it usually refers to the FOH position, the mixing desk out in the room where the FOH engineer mixes what the audience hears. "FOH" is also shorthand for the FOH engineer.
FOH is the opposite of monitor world, which handles what the musicians hear on stage.
Example
"Our FOH engineer will mix on the house console; please have two hours of console time before doors." That line in a tech rider tells the venue the band carries its own engineer.
Tips
Put the FOH engineer's name and contact on the day sheet, confirm the console model in the advance, and make sure the input list matches what's actually on stage.
