Glossary › Curfew

Curfew

The time the show must end, often enforced with fines.

Curfew is the latest time the show can run, set by the venue, the local noise rules or the license. A hard curfew is enforced, sometimes with fines or the power being cut; a soft curfew has some slack. There may be a separate time by which load-out must be finished.

Curfew decides set times: work backwards from curfew, through the headliner's set and changeovers, to doors.

Example

Hard curfew 11:00 PM. Headliner 9:30 to 10:55, changeover 20 minutes, support 8:30 to 9:10, doors 7:30. (EXAMPLE schedule.)

Tips

Confirm curfew in the advance and put it in bold on the day sheet. Build the set list to fit with a few minutes to spare.
