Comps

Complimentary tickets: free admission for guests, press or industry.

Comps are complimentary (free) tickets. On a guest list they're the spots the artist gives to friends, family, press and industry. In the box office report, comps are tickets issued with no charge, and they're counted separately from paid tickets.

Comps matter at settlement: on percentage deals they don't add revenue, and some contracts limit how many the promoter can issue.

Example

The box office report shows 812 tickets: 780 paid and 32 comps, of which 18 were on the artist's guest list. (EXAMPLE.)

Tips

Agree the artist comp allocation in the advance, track it on the guest list, and check the comp count on the settlement.
