Glossary › Hold
Hold
A tentative reservation of a date at a venue, ranked first hold, second hold and so on.
A hold is a tentative reservation of a date at a venue, placed while the deal or routing is still being worked out. Venues rank holds: a first hold gets the date if it confirms, a second hold moves up if the first releases, and so on.
When another act wants to confirm a date you're holding, the venue may issue a challenge: you have a short window to confirm or release.
Example
The agent places a second hold on Fri Nov 6 at a 900-cap club. Two weeks later the first-hold act releases, the hold moves to first, and the offer is confirmed. (EXAMPLE.)
Tips
Track holds separately from confirmed dates and don't announce or book travel against a hold. In TRMNGR, keep confirmed days on the Calendar and track holds in the tour itinerary template until they confirm.
